How to study

Recall, don't reread

On any cheat sheet, turn on Test Mode: the English is blurred, so you try to remember the meaning first. Hover or tap a blurred word to check yourself.

Little and often

Ten minutes a day works better than one long session a week. With More Dutch Plus, the exam plan gives you a short list for each day until your exam.

Go back to your mistakes

Every tool explains what you got wrong. With Plus, those questions, words and verbs land in My mistakes and come back until you know them.

The tools

Cheat sheets

15 grammar topics from A1 to B1, one rule at a time with examples. Mark a sheet as mastered when you know it; the counter on the cheat sheet page and the home page goes up.

Free: all 15 sheets online. Plus: print or save as PDF.

Grammar Quiz

Multiple-choice questions by topic or mixed, each with an explanation, and a review of what you missed at the end.

Free: the A1 topics (143 questions). Plus: all 285 questions, A2–B1 topics included.

Sentence Builder

Put the Dutch words in the right order for an English sentence, then check. Good practice for the verb-second rule and inversion (when the sentence starts with time or place, verb and subject swap).

Free: 5 A1 rules. Plus: all 10, including subordinate clauses and the perfect tense.

Verb Explorer

The 200 most common verbs with all forms and an example. Search, filter by level or type, and mark verbs as mastered. Watch the helper column: verbs like gaan and komen take zijn in the perfect tense, not hebben.

Free: everything.

Conjugation Wheel

Present, past and perfect around each verb, so you see the patterns. Switch to Drill to type the forms yourself; filtering on irregular verbs is a good way to practise the hard ones.

Free: browsing and the present-tense drill. Plus: past and perfect drills.

Flashcards

Everyday vocabulary by theme. Flip a card, then choose Easy or Hard; Hard cards come back at the end of the deck. Saying the word out loud helps.

Free: 6 of the 18 decks. Plus: all 18.

Common Words

594 everyday words in 30 short lessons, as a list or as practice cards. A lesson counts as done when every word in it is marked as mastered.

Free: lessons 1–10. Plus: lessons 11–30.

de / het Trainer

Pick the right article for common nouns. There's no full rule, but some patterns help: words ending in -je (diminutives) and verbs used as nouns always take het.

Free: the 100 most common nouns. Plus: all 300.

KNM Exam

Practice questions for the KNM exam (Knowledge of Dutch Society), covering its 10 chapters. Each chapter has its own page with sample questions under KNM chapters.

Free: 15-question drills from 100 sample questions. Plus: all 450 questions, mock exams of 25, 50 and 75, and practice by chapter.

Common questions
Where is my progress saved?

Without an account, in this browser only: clearing your browser data removes it. With a free account, it's saved to your account and works on every device you sign in on. Anything you did before signing in is added to your account when you sign in.

How does "mastered" work?

You decide: mark a cheat sheet, verb or word as mastered when you know it. The counters and progress bars on each tool, the home page and your profile show how far you are. You can unmark anything.

What is Test Mode?

A button on every cheat sheet. It blurs the English so you have to recall the meaning; hover or tap a blurred word to reveal it. The site remembers whether it's on.

Is More Dutch free?

Every cheat sheet and every tool at A1 level is free, with no ads. More Dutch Plus is an optional one-time purchase that adds A2–B1 practice, the full KNM exam, My mistakes, the exam plan and printable cheat sheets. See what's included.

Which exams does this help with?

The inburgering exams: the KNM exam, and Dutch grammar and vocabulary from A1 up to B1. More Dutch is a study aid; it isn't official DUO material and doesn't replace an exam course.

Where does the material come from?

We write it ourselves, based on the official KNM topics and the usual A1–B1 learning goals. The practice questions are not real exam questions. Spotted a mistake? Email info@moredutch.com and we'll fix it.

What is the weekly KNM question email?

One KNM practice question a week with the answer explained. Sign up on the home page or the KNM chapters page, then click the link in the confirmation email. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Every page works in a phone or tablet browser; there's nothing to install.
